“For me, working with Art Wolf Gallery is super important for this project because the entire room has been designed to honor the life of Ruth Stewart. She was the original owner of the home and lived here in 1933. Archival research shows that she was an artist, and a passionate philanthropist in Pasadena.
So hanging the art from local California female artists, really ties into the theme, both the paintings from Lareina Holsopple and the photos from dopez as well as the sculpture here by Osiris Zuñiga and is a really beautiful addition that makes the room a lot more personal.” —Christopher Ward, Rosemary Home Design
Christopher selected these portraits by Lareina Holsopple imagining they could have been painted by Ruth, herself an artist, of she and her husband around the age they were when they moved into this house.
The table was influenced by a dream of a dragonfly, the middle legs in a lovers embrace, to symbolize a gift commissioned from Christopher for the couple’s wedding, the inlays reflecting the flora of their Hawaiian Honeymoon.

“So when we first met, Yael and I were talking about the original owner Ruth, her love of the ocean, collecting seashells, and she showed me a collection of photos from dopez which really were lovely. We picked these three because they really fit with the theme that these are the type of photos that Ruth very well may have taken herself in the 1930s. They had that same aesthetic and actually even seem the Central California coast where we know that the original owner traveled quite often.” —Christopher Ward, Rosemary Home Design
